10 Aug 04 / complete
announcementsWell, it's official. As of today, I'm a Master of Human-Computer Interaction, courtesy of Carnegie Mellon University. Now, off to Boston.
Also, I've started building up my new domain: jklabs.net. It's primarily for projects and stuff. More live links coming soon.
And finally: a big shout out to all the recent MHCI grads. It's been a great (and yes, busyashell) year. Go do cool stuff, and keep in touch.
25 Mar 04 / upcoming performances
announcements, design, hci, music, performance, tech toysLast semester, I created an interactive video performance system (using Max/MSP and Jitter) that responds to audio input for a jazz duo here in Pittsburgh. It started as my final project for Roger Dannenberg's computer music class here at Carnegie Mellon, but it has taken on a life of its own.
Here's the announcement: we'll be playing two gigs at the Distillery Jazz Festival in Toronto. I'll bring my tech toys, and Lee and Ravish will improvise up a storm.
Here are the dates:
Friday, May 28 - 11:00pm
Saturday, May 29 - 2:30pm
Lee Robinson - saxophone
Ravish Momin - drums
Jesse Kriss - interactive performance system creation
20 Feb 04 / not a table in sight
announcementsI decided that today was the day to whip this site into shape. The individual pages and category pages now actually look like the rest of the site. Those of you using news aggregators will see real site design instead of default templates -- assuming you actually click the links, of course.
Even better, the site displays (more or less) correctly on a whole bunch of browsers. Plus, it's xhtml 1 and css 2 compliant. Took a bit longer than I expected, but I think it's worth it. The differences in browser rendering tactics never ceases to amaze me. You know what they say about standards...
8 Jan 04 / site in progress
announcementsUpdate (of sorts): still fixing a few browser bugs. They should be squashed soon. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I've noticed that the site occasionally looks hideous in IE under XP. I'll try and do something about that in the near future. Also, I need to create templates for the archive and category pages. For now, if you want everything to look pretty, just stick to the home page in a reasonable browser...
Also: the MacWorld keynote is today. Look for something cool from Apple.
23 Dec 03 / new site, new blog
announcementsTime for a site redesign. I'm still working out the details, but this is pretty much what it's going to look like. If anything looks severely broken, please let me know.
There's been a lot bouncing around in my head during this last semester, but I haven't had the time to really think about anything outside of school work. Now that I have a bit of a break, it's time to get the wheels spinning again.
Look for more posts in the near future...
